Disappointment and unselfish victory

We took part in the second race of the hill climb season in Poland, on the track in Zaluž. After great training rides on Saturday, Věroslav Cvrček Jr. won the first competitive race with a new track record time. “On Saturday everything went great until the second ride. The car suddenly stopped, the gearbox broke down. We immediately removed it from the car and disassembled it. We found that the snap ring, which ensures permanent transmission, had broken. We immediately started looking for spare parts to repair it. My dad (chief mechanic) didn’t give up and he immediately set off to Mladá Boleslav, driving more than 1,460 kilometers in total. A gearbox mechanic, who my mom picked up at 2am in the morning at an autocross race, was already waiting there. At 6am in the morning the gearbox was assembled, and then it needed to be transported back to Zaluž.
Eventually, we managed to do so, and I could fight for the victory again. I finished the first race in second place, but before the race I didn’t really know if I should take a risk and reward all the people helping me with a victory, or if I should get to the finish line safely without risking a crash and making all their efforts pointless. We eventually took the win thanks to a smart ride and minor technical problems of our opponent.” Says Věroslav Cvrček, describing his incredible weekend story. “This victory belongs to my parents, who didn’t sleep all night, to the mechanics, who fought with all their might, and to gearbox mechanic Honza, who selflessly took care of the breakdown. I would like to thank L Racing for enabling me to race and for their perfect support.”
