Fabia Super 2000 was purchased by Rexteam
27. 5. 2018, Poprad / SK
In addition to the brand new hill climb special, which was developed during the winter break and assembled directly in Rexteam workshops, the fleet was expanded with the ex-factory Fabia Super 2000 with serial number 84. This is one of the last pure factory specimens. In the 2014 season, Sepp Wiegand raced with this car for Škoda Motorsport, the legendary Freddy Loix raced with it the following season, and then his brother, Thiery Neuvilla, raced with it privately. This top world racer also supported his brother as a mechanic, as well as with advice and demonstrations of test drives. Rexteam bought this car in Portugal. In gravel specification and functionality testing after a complete inspection in our workshops, Rallye Tatry in Poprad was chosen, where Věroslav Cvrček Jr. raced with co-driver Petr Novák for the L Racing team.
Věroslav Cvrček Jr.: “The tracks were tough and they didn’t suit our car. We most often drove in 5th and 6th gear, and we also reached the rev limiter in sixth gear many times, which lasted over 10 seconds at times. This didn’t really matter – we didn’t come to win, we mostly wanted to get used to the rally and the car, which I didn’t drive for five years. I also didn’t drive in water for 5 years, so it all happened at once… We wanted to try all tire combinations, which we did. The car worked great. We would like to thank the mechanics, Rexteam, and especially Mr. Lipták and L Racing for their great support and for enabling us to race.”
